How about poor mans meals from the southern part of italy like calabria and sicily as well when growing up poor i remember poor mans meal consisting of three ingredients, pasta and garlic were two of them olive oil was a constant, but i remember as a child, meals like pasta and ceci (garbanzo beans ) others would be with peas or most any veggies, sometimes nothing more than pasta fried.

- sugar
- self rising flour
- pie filling (apple, cherry, or peach) or fresh fruit
- butter, unsalted
- milk
- vanilla extract
How to Make Poor Man's Apple Cobbler
- Melt butter in a 9x13 (preferably glass) baking dish.
- Mix sugar, flour, vanilla, and milk an pour into baking dish. Do not mix with butter. Just pour into the butter.
- Bake for 45 minutes. Crust will rise around apples. Serve. Enjoy!
