While stories of its grand history evoke romantic notions, and recent articles indicate it is being redeveloped, these days it is regrettably in a sad state of repair and there are more broken windows than gamblers. The immediate area is also in need of serious redevelopment and despite the nearby Orthodox Cathedral, Romanian Navy headquarters, and bustling Port of Constanta, it is frustratingly lacking in attention. Despite this, the promenade in front of the Casino is popular with people of all ages, during most of the year, for taking walks.
